Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas has been ranked as the fifth best zoo in Australia, higher than any other attraction in Tropical North Queensland.
The 2014 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards are based on reviews, opinions and ratings submitted by international and domestic travellers on the world’s largest travel site, TripAdvisor.
Wildlife Habitat Manager Clare Anderson said it was a great achievement to be ranked in the top alongside major national zoos such as Melbourne Zoo, Australia Zoo and Taronga Zoo.
"After 25 years, this shows we are still Australia’s leading immersion wildlife sanctuary, and that TripAdvisor reviews reflect that our visitors thoroughly enjoy the wildlife interaction and overall experience here in the park," she said.
"A credit goes to all our employees from every department for the high standard of customer service and engagement they provide to our visitors.”
"We put an emphasis on listening to the feedback we receive from our visitors and it becomes an important part of the future development and direction of the attraction."
Wildlife Habitat is the only non-government funded zoo other than Australia Zoo to make the top five.
