The Port Douglas Colts junior AFL team’s win at the grand final last night has been overshadowed by an explicit photo scandal.

Photographs have emerged of Colts players in various states of undress celebrating on the field at the Croc Pit.

The Newsport received an email containing the photos, apparently taken from a smartphone, at 6:16am on Monday.

The sender claimed to be a parent of a player for the Colts Under 10s side and that the photos were ‘all over Facebook and Instagram’, but did not answer any further questions as to their identity.

Crocs president Andy Smith said ‘someone outside the club’ had obtained the photographs and distributed via text message and email to club members, administrators of the Cairns league and media outlets in an attempt to damage the club.

Mr Smith said he already knew of a likely suspect for the breach and was contacting police over the matter.

“The club’s had a tradition of a bit of silly fun after a win like this and it seems the junior players have imitated it, they’ve taken off their clothes and gone for a quick run on the field for a laugh, everyone’s had a laugh and then they’ve put their clothes back on,” he said.

“We don’t know right now how these photos have been found and sent out to everyone - we know who actually took the photos themselves and they’ll be talked to and reprimanded - but we understand that they were uploaded to a private site and definitely weren’t meant to go out to everyone and become viral, so to speak.”

“What’s a real shame is this has thrown a shadow over the sensational game of football they played on the night - what we’re worried about now is the future of these young players - 90 per cent of them are over 18 but this could still be an issue for them.”

Newsport will continue to update this story as it progresses.
