The recent days were nerve racking for all of us. Sitting and waiting in a house is a bad enough experience during such turbulent times. 

But the situation of some brave yachties, sitting on a dancing boat up in the creek, next to the mangroves,with its millions of sandflies, just waiting for the worst to come, was remarkable and fortunately ended in a great success.

The part our Coast Guard played in this drama, was fantastic! These guys were always friendly and got involved where people couldn't handle it themselves.

They also came by to ask if we needed help, even though that wasn't the case.

This was psychologically very helpful and obviously motivated everybody to really do their best to minimise all risks involved in the crammed full Dickson Inlet.

The Marina was cleared completely, well before the first gales hit our Region.

In the aftermath of the storm, all boats got retrieved in just one day. With the Coast Guard guys the last ones to leave the Marina just before the magnificent sunset we all deserved after being lucky, not to have lost one boat, nor any people, who were out there to help.

So the boat owners would like to say a huge THANK YOU to our friendly and professional Coast Guard, as well as Rick and his mates from "Parasailing", who shifted the house boats and last but not least the "Reef Marina" crew for their great communication during this stressful event.
