Northern Pride semi-final rescheduled

Northern Pride’s Intrust Super Cup major semi-final home clash against Easts Tigers at Barlow Park has been rescheduled to this Sunday.

Originally due to take place on Saturday night, Queensland Rugby League has decided that the Pride v Easts clash will now be the live Sunday TV game on Channel 9/WIN TV, with a 1.35pm kick-off. This will also mean that Pride’s game will become part of the wider Cairns District Rugby League (CDRL) Grand Final day, creating an historic footy fiesta in Far North Queensland.

Northern Pride CEO, Brock Schaefer, said it would be the first time the Pride would host a finals match live on TV, and alongside CDRL’s biggest day of the year.

“It promises to be an incredible occasion for the local region, and we’re expecting a huge turnout for such highly-anticipated games,” he said.

“Aside from the CDRL Grand Finals, the Pride have just sealed the minor premiership, and if we win this game, we’re into the 2013 Intrust Super Cup Grand Final, so we’re expecting big support from local rugby league fans.”

Schaefer also confirmed amended ticketing arrangements, and apologised to Pride fans who had already secured their tickets for the original Saturday night date.

“We would like to offer our sincere apologies for the date change to those Pride and rugby league fans who had bought tickets online or who are affected by this date change,” Schaefer said.

“We did not anticipate the QRL would select this game for live telecast, and it was only confirmed at the weekend. We believe it will still be a fantastic day for the Pride, and also more broadly for rugby league in this region.”

As the game will now be played as part of the CDRL Grand Final day, ticketing is only provided by the CDRL and tickets are on sale only at the Barlow Park gates on the day. CDRL Grand Final day tickets are $10 for adults and $2 for children and seniors. Tickets Cairns will be processing refunds for anyone who purchased a ticket online for the original Saturday fixture.
