Haunt needs more hair-raising helpers

October's spooky annual night to eat, drink and be scary is just over a month away, and the Demonised Ghoul, organiser of local Halloween-themed event The Haunting of Oak Beach, says a number of volunteers have signed on to help.

But, there are still places available.

"Do you like scaring your friends and family out of their shoes? Do you like things that go bump in the night? If so, volunteering for the Haunting of Oak Beach is the perfect venue for you," said the Demonised Ghoul.

Last week, Molly-Jean Farnham signed on to play Frankenstein's Bride, after last year's turn as Mrs Lovett, delighting Haunting visitors with her spooky songs of bloody meat pies.

The Ghoul told The Newsport a special creature will be gruesomely greeting the guests of the Haunt this year, with Aaron Thomas set to play Frank, a monstrous prophetic life-sized rabbit made infamous in the 1988 cult classic Donnie Darko.

"Kids will never look at the Easter Bunny in the same light!" the Ghoul explained.

The Haunt still needs volunteers to take on the roles of:

  • Graveyard Caretaker
  • Chamber of Horrors creature
  • A haunted cavern beast
  • A ghoulishly lovely Haunt entrance hostess

So, don't be a scaredy cat! This year, get involved in the Haunting of Oak Beach and volunteer to be a 'creature of the night'.

The Haunting of Oak Beach will be held on October 26th from 6 to 9pm.
To volunteer, email ghoul@hauntingofoakbeach.com or call him on 4099 3602.

Meanwhile, the Demonised Ghoul has also been kept busy this year with requests from the gymnasts doing Freaky Friday, this Friday the 13th, and assisting Douglas Shire residents to set-up their own Halloween displays.

"It’s great fun assisting others and showing them how they too can have their own Haunt on their property. Halloween this year is on Thursday, October 31st, and with the attention and growing popularity of the holiday, it should be great!" the Ghoul said.

Happy Haunting!
