Port Douglas Crocs President's Report

President's Report
Well, finals time has arrived and the Crocs are up and running.
Last Saturday saw the reserves stamp their intentions with a smashing victory over Cairns Saints at Griffiths Park in Cairns in the last home and away game of the season by 73 points. The seniors played some of the best footy seen at our club in the past few years. Unfortunately, despite leading by 18 points in the last quarter, they took their foot off the pedal in the last 15 minutes to just miss out on a great victory by five points.
This Saturday, it’s all roads lead to finals footy at Cazaly’s Stadium, with the seniors playing the South Cairns Cutters at 1pm, and the reserves, who finished second on the ladder, playing arch rivals North Cairns at 6pm with the winner going straight into the 2013 grand final.
A special mention must go to senior coach, Coops (Brad Cooper), who has worked very hard this year to recruit and bring our juniors up to a level where they are a big part of our finals assault.
Now we need all of our supporters to take the time to travel down to Cazaly’s this Saturday and show your support of the Port Douglas Football Club. This Thursday night we also need people to come up to the clubrooms for selection and a meal. It means a lot to the players, and will add to the atmosphere around the club.
Last Sunday, we had our Father’s Day and best and fairest vote count day at the club rooms. Thanks to Rob Barnett, Normy and Marta for serving up a great meal, to German for his visual production and Muffy and John Cameron for their hard work at the bar. It was a great day with the last four rounds of the season not known until presentation night at the Sheraton on AFL grand final eve.
Former captain Evan “Buddha” Hocking will be flying up to MC the night and he has become a huge success on the stand-up comedy circuit in Melbourne. If you were lucky enough to see him at our 25th anniversary event in June, you will not want to miss this night. Tickets are in high demand, so book and pay up ASAP.
This year the Crocs Netball teams will attend and hand out there awards and we will also present our under 18s CAFL medal winner for 2013. Don't leave your booking to the last minute as you will miss out.
Also a special thanks to JC who donated a trip to this year’s AFL grand final for two people, which was won by Louise Wall. The profits will be shared by the Crocs and Mossman Golf Club. Congratulations Louise!
Hope to see you all on Thursday and Saturday.
Go Crocs!
