Local police say there's no truth to recent rumours circulating on social media of a single or double murder in Port Douglas.

Various readers contacted The Newsport after hearing of rumours circulating online.

"That's a definite negative," said a Senior Constable with the Port Douglas Police.

He said the local station had not received any such reports, and were therefore not investigating any murders.
