Special Brand delights at Glengarry Muster

Glengarry's camping grounds played host to the fourth annual Glengarry Muster on Saturday, with nearly 500 cowboy-boot clad Country and Western music fans nodding their Stetsons in time to some of the genre's top entertainers.

On the back of a high profile US tour supporting American superstar Taylor Swift, and a more recent bout of the flu, Adam Brand recovered enough to strut his stuff on stage, delighting the audience with his high-energy, high-octane music style.

With seven studio albums and thirteen singles under his belt, Brand boasts platinum sales in Australia for his first three albums,  three Country Music Association of Australia Awards (for 'Album of the Year', 'Male Vocalist of the Year' and 'Song of the Year'), and a 'Mo' Award  for 'Male Country Performer of the Year'.

Brand's star continues to rise, and The Newsport's Rosie Wang caught up with the country crooner to find out how such a successful performer still makes time to support regional events.

The country crooner has played the last two of the four Glengarry Musters, and told The Newsport audience members are always supportive and positive.

"It is such an ideal place to hold an event like this," Brand said. "I can only see it expanding and becoming a really big event over the years. I love Port Douglas and just think this event can only go from strength to strength."

Brand wasn't the only highlight on the Muster's bill. Audience members also enjoyed The Sunny Cowgirls, The Hillbilly Goats, Karrie Hayward, Dennis Cuthel, Leanne Tennant, Lani Brouwer, and Travis Collins.

A country music trail blazer in his own right thanks to his contemporary country rock style, Collins is fast making a name for himself and looking to match Brand's success. Collins boasts four albums and six #1 hits, and was awarded the Toyota Star Maker Quest at the 2004 CMAA Country Music Awards in Tamworth (previous winners include Keith Urban). He's also headlined with Suzi Quatro, Lee Kernaghan, Tim McGraw, Dierks Bentley & Wynonna.

Look out for Glengarry Muster 2014  - it’s going to be a  big one! With free camping for all attendees, this event is truly set to become a 'Save the Date'.
