Cross-dressing thief charged
A 41-year-old Atherton Tablelands man has been charged with theft following investigations into the alleged burglary of a Mossman Gorge residence on August 28.
Mossman CIB alleges the man stole a number of clothing items from the house, including a swimming costume belonging to a female resident.
They say he then unlawfully entered another nearby residence and was disturbed by a female resident who recognised the swimming costume, being worn by the man, as belonging to her neighbour.
According to Mossman Police Officer in Charge, Matt Smith, the man had been held in custody since August 29 as a result of Mossman Police objecting to him being released on bail after being charged with other offences.
The man was taken to Cairns’ watch house and later to the Lotus Glen facility, where he was also charged with the burglary incident. He is due to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court later this month to face charges in relation to this and several other matters.
