Heat braves Bendigo basketball stars
Douglas Heat Basketball Club has continued its run of attracting national coaches and players to its training sessions with another exciting coaching clinic yesterday in Port Douglas.
Ben Harvey, head coach of 2013 South East Australian Basketball League grand finalists, Bendigo Braves, took more than 50 junior players in an energetic coaching clinic at Port Douglas cyclone shelter.
Harvey was joined by six foot six American import, Ricky Daniels, a former Braves player and twice league MVP in 1999 and 2000. Hailing from NBA superstar Michael Jordan's territory – North Carolina State – Daniels retired in 2010, but still put on a spectacle for the kids while teaching them fundamentals.
Harvey’s Bendigo Braves made the SEABL grand final this year after a club record 16 game winning streak, however went down to Dandenong in the season decider.
Douglas Heat is now back in training following the school holidays and meet at Port Douglas cyclone shelter from 3pm Wednesdays.
