Douglas Shire Council website launched

The de-amalgamated Douglas Shire Council has a new home online, with Transfer Manager Jeff Tate announcing the website's launch yesterday afternoon.

The site, live online at www.douglas.qld.gov.au, provides detailed information on the background to the de-amalgamation and the process being followed, including frequently asked questions.

"I'm pretty pleased with it," said Mr Tate of the new site.

A noticeable feature is the Douglas Shire Council dark grey, white and teal logo, or 'name block', featured on the site's top left. As information on the homepage states:

Choosing the logo and branding for the new Douglas Shire will be a decision for the new Council in early 2014.  The Douglas graphic used on this site is a temporary, locally designed ‘name block’, which serves two purposes:

  • It provides an interim identity for materials being distributed on behalf of the new Council – for example, this website, or career opportunity advertisements in the press; and
  • It will be used to cover Cairns Regional Council branding on Douglas Shire Council assets and materials (such as vehicles, buildings, stationery, uniforms etc.) from the 1st January until a new logo can be designed and adopted by Council.

"We will continue to update [the site] with the latest information and in response to any feedback received," Mr Tate said.
