Chance for kids to create MP’s Xmas card

As excited children start counting down the weeks until Christmas, it’s time once again for kids to put their creativity to paper to help design Federal MP Warren Entsch’s annual Christmas Card.

“This year, the theme is A Christmas Dream,” Mr Entsch explained.  “It’s very broad and can mean different things to different children.

“It may be about a special person they’d like to spend Christmas with, where they want to go for a holiday, it could be a dream about helping others less fortunate, or a gift they’d like to give or receive.”

The competition has been running for many years now and Mr Entsch said the quality and quantity of entries from around the Leichhardt electorate continued to impress him.

“Last year we received more than 400 entries and the range of media used was fantastic – from collage to paint, glitter, stickers, drawing and pastel,” he said.

The competition is open to all children aged from 5 years to 12 inclusive, and Mr Entsch congratulated Cairns Penny for again coming on board as sponsor.
Peter Phillips from Cairns Penny said it was an honour for Cairns Penny to be involved with this great tradition.

The theme this year will mean that the kids from our region will once again be inspired to come up with even more outstanding designs.

“We keep the designs on the wall in our banking hall and we always have really positive comments from our customers.  We’re all excited to see the 2013 winners,” Mr Phillips said.

Great prizes are up for grabs - the winning entry will receive a $150 First Penny account; second prize is a $100 First Penny account and third prize is a $50 First Penny account.  There are also another five $20 accounts for outstanding designs.

The First Penny account has been awarded the Best Kids Savings Account in Australia by Your Money magazine and receives five star rating by Cannex.
All schools will receive the application forms and conditions of entry next week so that students can start designing.

This competition will close at 9am on Friday, 15th November.

Forms can be downloaded at www.warrenentsch.com.au/Media/MediaReleases.aspx or sent to PO Box 14, BUNGALOW, QLD 4870. They must be the original design, in a horizontal A4 format, accompanied by a completed application form.
