Birdies and eagles for Paws and Claws
Golfers will be able to help out homeless animals this Sunday when Palmer Sea Reef Golf Course in Port Douglas plays host to the Paws and Claws charity fundraising day.
The local animal refuge is soon to relocate to new premises and is aiming to raise $18,000 in order to create better facilities for the homeless animals in their care.
Run by Stanton Golf and Salsa Bar and Grill, the growing event is in its third year and brings together like-minded people to enjoy a day of golf, fun, food and drink, all in the name of a great cause.
The day tees off with registration at 8.30am, followed by a golf clinic hosted by PGA professional Bob Stanton. After a briefing play in the Ambrose event will begin with a shotgun start at 10am.
There will be lots fun challenges and prizes during play with longest drives, nearest the pins and eagle challenges on par fives just some of the entertainment to inspire the players.
Players will not be hungry or thirsty either with Salsa Bar and Grill providing tasty nibbles and Yalumba Wines holding wine tasting at the tees.
When the golfers return to the clubhouse to swap their stories and take part in presentations and enjoy a barbeque buffet lunch, some great prizes will be put up for auction, including an all-inclusive four-day fishing charter in the Gulf, which is valued at over $7000.
Places are strictly limited so to secure a last-minute spot for a fun day supporting a great cause call Palmer Sea Reef on (07) 4087 2222. Cost is $130 per player.
