U8 Crocs take a bite out of Hawks

The mighty Under-8 Port Douglas Crocs, inspired by Carlton’s gutsy win the night before against the soft Lions, steamed out of the blocks against the Hawks at the Croc Pit on Sunday.

Kicking into a strong breeze, the ball skills were amazing, with the on-ball team of Big Taj “Bootsma” Anderson, Luke “Judd” Pullan and big bad Jonte “Robertson” Revell getting the Hawks’ heads spinning. Also, the aerial skills of Tyler “Walker” Anderson, who took many strong grabs.

Up forward, Gus “Garlett” Gaske was slotting them through from everywhere, well supported by game day captain Hayden” Murphy” Caswell. First gamer Dargan “Simpson” stood tall, and back from injury Little Taj “Gibbs” Uwland provided plenty of spark. Still on one leg, young Kalan “Lucas” Poole and Mr Smiley Jetson “Waite” Parry had great four-quarter efforts.

Down back and through the middle, Ethan “Henderson” Scott worked his way into the game, and the rebounding efforts of Jessiah “Armfield” St Pierre, Odhran “Tuohy” and new blue supporter Jai “McLean” Stapleton pleased the coaching staff with their defensive efforts.

Coach’s awards went to Hayden, Jai, Tyler and Little Taj.
