Port Douglas Magazine goes national

Port Douglas Magazine is promoting our region like never before, having just secured a deal with Australia's largest magazine distributor.

The agreement between Gordon and Gotch and the magazine's creators, Newsport Publishing, means Port Douglas Magazine will now be available in 815 stores around Australia including the key markets of Melbourne and Sydney, as well as airport NewsLink outlets.

"Port Douglas Magazine will now sit alongside famous magazine titles such as Gourmet Traveller and Luxury Travel," said Sam Cullen, Newsport Publishing managing director.

"The association with Gordon and Gotch means we'll spread the reach of the magazine, but just as importantly, we'll receive valuable data on where our sales hotspots are so we can become even more effective in targeting our distribution and marketing.

"This will help raise the profile of the magazine, not only for the benefit of our advertisers, but also our region," Mr Cullen said.

Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas general manager, Lachlan Walker, an advertiser with Port Douglas Magazine, agreed with Mr Cullen.

"Our occupancy has continued to grow over the years with strong domestic lift. It is vital to have the ongoing and strong presence of the Resort and our destination further South (in the) Sunshine Coast, Sydney and Melbourne.

"The look, the quality of the stories with emphasis on fresh food, local produce and lifestyle, just what Port Douglas is about," he said.

And it's not just visitors taking to the magazine. Mr Walker said the Resort had noticed an influx of locals as well.

"(We've had) More local business and visitors through our restaurants, and the recently introduced Aqua Play has seen a strong usage for the renowned Sheraton Mirage Day Pass."

Port Douglas Magazine Issue 10 is out now. Look for celebrity chef Manu Feildel on the cover, and read special features with ABC TV chef Poh Ling Yeow, and fitness guru Michelle Bridges.
