Mossman District Rifle Club Shooting Report

Saturday’s afternoon target shooting session was hampered by an overlay of cloud and constant gusts of wind which made hitting the centre target a challenge to all.

400 Metre Double - May 11th

Norbert Schmidt was first  on the mound to set up his gear. Norbert opened with a bull eye and a super bull eye and then went on to shoot a very fine first round with a score of 59/6 from a possible 60 in the 10 shot F Class(sandbagged, telescoped 308 )competition.

Neil Attwood was next on the mound to compete in the Full Bore (manually supported, open sights 308) comp. Neil opened with a 4 and a 3. Cutting them he went on to squeeze off a string of 4’s and 5’s and a 3 to give him a first round score of 43 from a possible 50.

Ben Purvis was next down with his gear to see if he could better his recent scores. Ben opened with a bird and then went on to pull mainly 4’s and 3’s and one 5 to score 37.

Our Club Stalwart Ron Schild was the last competitor on the mat to have a crack at the small target, Ron opened with a 4 and a 3 and then let loose a mixed bag of shots to give him a score of 41/1.

Norbert was back again for his second 400 metre range . Norbert opened with a 4 and a 5. He cut them and went on to shoot mainly 6’s and 5’s with one 4 to give him a score of 62 from a possible 66 in the 11 shot match.

Neil Attwood on his second range opened with 4’s and went on to shoot a mixed bag to give him a final tally of 43 from a possible 55.

Ben Purvis was again on the mound to try and better his first round. Ben opened with a 4 and a miss and then went on to squeeze off some impressive shots to give him a final   tally of 46/3 from a possible 55.

Ronny Schild was again on the mound to try his hand and eye on the small target, Ron opened with a 4 and a 5 and went on to shoot a mixed bag with a few V Bulls and a 3 for a final score of 48/2 from a possible 55 in the 11 shot match.

Norbert Schmidt took first place with 121/6 in the F Class comp.  Ron Schild took honours with 89/3 followed by Neil Attwood on 86 and Ben Purvis in third on 83/3 in the Full Bore Comp.

No shooting this Saturday as The Cairns Prize Shoot in on Saturday and Sunday.
