Long wait for Daintree death cause
Investigations into the cause of the Daintree Ferry incident which resulted in the death of a 62 year-old Mossman man last week could take up to six months to complete.
A series of blood, pathology, and mechanical tests will be conducted and a coronial inquest is likely to be held to determine the cause of the man's death.
In addition, a Workplace Health & Safety investigation will be carried out to ascertain how the car left the ferry approximately 30 metres from the southern river bank, and any possible preventative measures that could be taken to avoid similar events in future.
