A great family day was enjoyed last Saturday (May 11th) at QT Resort in Port Douglas to celebrate their first birthday since taking over and refurbishing the resort.

Port Douglas delivered the perfect weather for the celebrations and the organisers of the day kept the fun and games coming throughout the day.

General manager, Steve Oakley said, "I'm delighted to see so many families have come along to join in our first birthday celebrations.  We're very proud of what we have achieved in this first year.  The new SpaQ is now open and we have lots more plans for the resort.  But in the meantime let's enjoy today, the weather is fantastic, everyone's having fun and that's what it's all about!"

The superb Bazaar team kept the the BBQ going all day and the bar staff were eager to help everyone have a great day with cocktails, coffee and snacks.

A highlight for the children was the arrival of the Pinata.  It didn't take the kids long to work out what the reward was for pounding the brightly coloured, dangling animal shapes.  Some children pushed and poked the pendulum but others really took to the job and smashed their way into the treasure chests.  Almost before the lollies hit the floor the kids were into hunter gatherer mode and no prisoners were taken !!

At around 5pm the celebration birthday cake was brought out to great applause and shared amongst the attending crowds.  

Since taking over the resort the QT organisation has consolidated their cleverly re-designed Estrilo Bar which many locals have taken as the new chic place to be seen for evening drinks.  The innovative Bazaar Restaurant has made a big reputation for itself, the partnership with the Moonlight Cinema operations has filled a very much needed gap in the local entertainment market and the newly opened SpaQ is the talk of the health and wellness community scene.

Congratulations go to the whole team from management to staff, it illustrates how attention to detail for both service and product is the still and will always be the key to success.
