Australian pop music legend, Daryl Braithwaite, will perform in a special concert at Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas on Saturday, May 25 as part of Carnivale celebrations.

Boasting a distinguished career spanning more than 30 years, starting as the singer in the hugely successful band Sherbet from age 21, Braithwaite was crowned Australia's King of Pop by TV Week over three consecutive years from 1975 to 1977.

He went on to an equally successful solo career, some of his hits including Australian sensations One Summer and Horses.

Braithwaite will be ably supported by the eloquent Willow Willis and local act, Benny and the Clones.

Willow is known for her original acoustic sound, with her latest music combining folk, rock, classical and jazz. A talented writer, producer, artist and promoter who has performed alongside Harry Connick Jr, she has a strong following in the music scene.

Ever since winning the People’s Choice award in the Song of Carnivale song-writing competition, Benny and the Clones have been regulars on the local festival circuit. Their sound is classical while delving into the world of modern pop and rock. These incredibly talented musicians have collaborated with many respected names in the music industry.

Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas General Manager, Lachlan Walker, said it was a privilege to have Daryl Braithwaite perform at the resort and was important to support local musicians.

“We had the winner of The Voice 2012, Karise Eden, perform here at a concert in November as part of our solar eclipse festivities and it drew a huge crowd. We are expecting the same at our Carnivale concert.”

Willow will perform at 7.30pm, followed by Benny and the Clones at 8.20pm and Daryl Braithwaite at 9.30pm.

Sun Palm Transport will provide free return bus service on the night for travel between participating restaurants and the concert venue.
