Annular eclipse spectacular

Our skies have been graced by the second solar eclipse in six months - this time an annular eclipse that almost reached total eclipse proportions.

All but a small crescent of the sun was blocked by the moon, causing the light to soften considerably.

Those who held on to their total solar eclipse glasses from November were treated to an uninterrupted view of the spectacle, with a handful of watchers gathering on Four Mile Beach in Port Douglas.
