The wait is over

The tension has been building all month as entrants eagerly await the announcement of the Best Photo Competition winners for February.

The wait is now over.

The colour and detail of Judi McCowen's 'Iguana, taken at Mareeba Zoo' (main photo) caught the eye of the judges and was awarded the top gong. Congratulations Judi, you've won a 30cm x 46cm acrylic print valued at $130 PLUS $50 cash thanks to our good friend Perrin Clarke at Imagebank Australia.

I'm sure you'll all agree that the photos entered by Charlotte Hellings each month are a highlight of the competition. Her portrayal of a 'Lonely Emu' means Charlotte will spend a tranquil evening enjoying a Sailaway Sunset Sail for her and a friend as February's runners-up.

Shay Bourne is obviously a romantic, and he'll be able to prepare the perfect romantic dinner now he's won third prize - an Italian recipe book and MasterChef apron thanks to Coles Supermarket Port Douglas - for his 'Feel The Love' photo.

To the Most Popular Photo award and Kim Poulsen held on to take the honour with her 'Posing For Mum' and has won a $20 shopping card thanks yet again to Coles Supermarket Port Douglas.

There's something about a storm rolling in over the ocean that makes it one of the more impressive spectacles in nature, and Jenna Rumney's 'Wet Season Skies' encapsulates that spectacle perfectly.  Jenna's shot has earned her the Editor's Choice award for February and she will enjoy a magnificent Seabean Cafe Restaurant meal with her $50 voucher.

Winners can call The Newsport on 4099 5122 to arrange collection of your prizes. Please note, you have 30 days from today to collect your prize.

Do you agree with the judges? Tell us your thoughts below, or on our Best Photo Competition page.

March entries are now being accepted. Send up to four photos (each with a title and your name) to competitions@thenewsport.com.au.

Good luck!
