Surveillance video records theft

Mossman CIB is appealing to the public for help in identifying a second offender who has allegedly stolen a significant amount of money from the Craiglie car wash earlier this month.

While 31-year-old Port Douglas man, Leigh Raymond Hepner, has been charged with the theft of a key which led to the robbery of money from automated machines at the business (his case was adjourned yesterday and he will re-appear in Mossman Magistrates Court on 10 April), a second offender, seen in this video, is alleged to have also stolen a significant amount of cash between 12.45am and 1.10am on March 12.

Mossman CIB Detective Sergeant Trevor Perham, said the co-offender was a Caucasian male in his late 20s or early 30s, has a distinctive nose, was dressed in black, wearing a black head sheet (possibly covering long hair), with black socks covering his hands and feet and a tattoo on his left forearm.

He is seen approaching change machines at the business, trying to unlock them with a key. The offender is suspected to be working in conjunction with Hepner.

Any information into the identity of the co-offender in the video can be left anonymously with Mossman CIB on (07) 4098 2180 or with Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
