Nathan Deuble steers U12 muddies to win
The Atherton Scorpions won the toss and sent the Muddies in to bat. The run chase started with Vincent Killeen pulling the first ball of the match over square leg for four runs, nearly making a six.
Vincent went on to score 18 before he was bowled. Nathan Deuble who opened with Vincent scored an unbeaten 48 off 18 balls and came back in to finish on 91 off 35 balls, before he was bowled. The 91 included 8 sixes and 7 fours.
The rest of the team added to the score with good knocks from Luke Twomey, Connor and Curtis White, Nick Raynor and Ryan Stanaway who remained not out on 14.
Josh Edward and Ashton Davenport were unfortunate to get run out in the run chase, whilst Scott Cooper was caught outside the crease and was stumped.
The Muddies put on the best score for the season of 220 runs off 25.3 overs.
The Scorpions had their work cut out needing 221 runs to win the day. Connor White who took 3 wickets for 31 runs off 3 overs spearheaded the bowling attack. He was very well supported by Ashton Davenport who took 2 wickets off consecutive balls, to end up with 2 for 9 off 3 overs, with a maiden.
Curtis White also bowled well to support his brother and took 2 for 7 off 2 overs. Others in the wickets were Tex McDowall, Nathan Deuble and Vincent Killeen.
The fielding was as tight as has been all season with some well judged catches by Nathan, Josh and Tex to see the Scorpions bowled out for 130 runs with 2 balls to spare.
The captaincy and keeping was shared between Curtis White and Josh Edward.
