Muddies U12s on a roll
Muddies U12’s took out their second game in a row with a convincing win over Atherton 133 to 81 at home on Saturday.
After losing the toss Muddies were sent in to bat. Openers Nick Raynor (5) and Tex McDowell (9) wasted no time getting the team off to a great start before both retiring not out.
Curtis White was next in, making 4 runs before being bowled. Ryan Doble kept the scorers busy making a team high 21 runs while Josh Edwards faced some great bowling and did very well to retire on 5 not out.
Vincent Killeen batted well hitting 3 fours before retiring on 19 not out. Rueben Allison came in at number seven - again batting solidly and was unlucky to be run out on 5.
Conner White retired on 2 after a very steady innings and Phoenix Darlington was run out on 1 after some nice fielding from the Atherton team.
Ashton Davenport was the third batsman to fall to a runout hitting two boundary’s on his way to 14. Xander Darlington, captaining the team, contributed 3 runs to the team total of 133.
Atherton lost a wicket in the first over with Vincent Killeen holding onto a catch off the bowling of Curtis White (1-6). Curtis also fielded extremely well taking two catches.
Ashton Davenport clean bowled Atherton’s other opening batsman taking 1-5. Ruben Allison (2-5) bowled well as did Vincent Killeen (1-3) who took a wicket maiden.
Wicket Keeper Tex McDowell took a brilliant diving catch off the economical spin bowling of Josh Edwards (1-3). Conner White took an impressive 1-2 while Tex McDowell took 2-6 including the wicket of Muddies Ryan Stanaway who was subbing for an undermanned Atherton.
Ryan Doble (0-12), Xander Darlington (0-16), Phoenix Darlington (0-15), and Nick Raynor (0-5) all did well to keep Atherton to a total of 81.
The experience gained in the recent Lord Taverner’s competition is really starting to show.
Congratulations to the U11 team who competed well and also to the U12 team who took out the competition in their age bracket.
