FODS De-Amalgamation Fun Day

FODS De-Amalgamation Fun Day

Friends of Douglas Shire (FODS) responded to calls from the younger families of the region to make themselves available for questions during the day.

President Robert Hanan said that he had received several requests from younger families because all the public information meetings so far had been held in the evenings when parents with younger families found it difficult to attend because of family commitments.

It was decided to make the meeting, held on Saturday 2nd March at George Davis Park opposite the Saturday Mossman Market, a family fun day to include games and activities for the children to help free up the parents to chat about the future of the Douglas Shire and to ask their questions of the FODS representatives.

The weather wasn't very kind with early morning showers dampening the subsequent attendance.

However the enthusiasm of the games organisers, The Fairy Queen and Emerald Dove from 'Simply Fun Childcare' ensured the kids had a great time while the adults who did manage to make it chatted about the forthcoming De-Amalgamation Poll.  Visit : friendsofdouglasshire.org

As we move into the final week of the De-amalgamation debate there is just one final public meeting being held at Port Douglas Community Hall on Thursday 7th March from 6 to 7pm organised by The People of Douglas (Pro Amalgamation).  So if you are a 'still undecided voter' or a voter with some remaining issues this may help sway your decision either way.
