Errors cost Raiders Third Round

A game of errors, many uncharacteristic, that cost the Raiders, but great character to fight back from 22 - 7 half time score to be 22- 19 with little time to go. Final score 29 – 19

With 7 players away due to family and work commitments or with illness or injury the starting line-up was unknown until Saturday just before the game.

The Raiders had the ascendancy in this game for 60% of the time but failed to convert a mountain of goal line pressure through good defense by Brothers or lapses in basic skill sets.

The first half set the theme with brothers putting on 22 points even with a man of the field for 10 minutes for a shoulder charge infringement, in this period Port managed to finally put points on the board a try to Todd Funch converted by Grae Gilbert.

The other significant event was an injury to Omar who was taken to hospital with a suspected broken or dislocated elbow; he was released with x-rays showing nothing and is expected to return in two weeks.

The second half was won by the Raiders but they still could not get on top of  their skills, scoring two tries, one to our new welsh import James and one to Grant in the corner which he also converted.

Todd Funch spent ten minutes in the bin and Grae turned his ankle and was replaced in the 60th minute, not a great day at Raider Park.

Brothers scored a try in the last two minutes to seal the victory 29 - 19

Keith Tesch got the three points, Dave Mc. the two points at fullback and Simon Chic the point.
