Chasing the Blues' 115 for victory the Greens started slowly and were always behind the run rate and although there was a late innings assault they still fell ten runs short.
 
The Blues won the toss and skipper Cody had no hesitation in batting first on a typically hard wicket. As has been the case in recent weeks though, runs were hard to come by with some tight bowling from the Greens and the slow outfield and the Blues were in trouble with the loss of three early wickets.
 
However, Logan Marsh and Simon Cody put on 45 for the fourth wicket to steady the ship and allow a platform from which to accelerate in the latter stages. When Cody fell for 18 in the 22nd over the Blues had made it through to 70 and with wickets still in hand the time was right for the lower order to tee off.

Marsh batted superbly bringing up his fifty with a lofted drive for six over long off and finishing unbeaten on 69 off 75 balls to help the Blues to a very competitive 115 off their 30 overs. Even two diamond ducks did not dent the Blues confidence going into the second half of the match.
 
All the Greens' bowlers bowled well but youngsters Kaiden Sorensoon and Hayden D’Adonna were the most impressive with figures of 2-13 and 1-10 respectively off their 6 overs.
 
The Greens started very cautiously with Damien Darlington and Hayden D’Adonna taking 13 overs to get through to 20. Then, with the scoreboard pressure beginning to tell, the Blues' bowlers struck.

Four wickets fell for just one run and the momentum was all with them.  Sam Hodgson and Gary Postens both bagged a couple of wickets with Hodgson’s 2-8 off his six overs swinging the game even further in the Blues' favour.
 
Jordan Butterss joined Darlignton and set about resurrecting the Greens' innings and with positive intent and some lusty hitting looked to get them back into the contest. Just as the momentum was beginning to swing Marsh removed first Darlington and then Butterss although the runs were still flowing.
 
As the weather started to close in, Green’s skipper Steve Doble came to the crease intent on becoming the hero. He played well and ran hard between the wickets even running five at one stage to get the Greens to within a whisker of the title.

But the reintroduction of opening bowlers Dave Johnson and Vic Chandra saw the Blues over the line by ten runs to clinch the one day title.
 
The two sides meet again next week in the semi-final of the two day competition with the Blues looking to push towards the double while the Greens will be out for revenge.
