The search for Miss Carnivale 2013 has begun with entries now being sought for the annual pageant.

Building on last year’s success which saw over a dozen girls take part in the ambassadorial program, Miss Carnivale is looking for bright, fresh-faced talent with a positive and outgoing image to represent the 10-day festival from May 17 to 26.

Behind the event is Jade Turnbull owner of Platinum Model Management, who believes Miss Carnivale provided fantastic opportunity for girls to take on a leadership role within their local community.

“Miss Carnivale will represent the festival in media engagements in the lead up to and during the event, and will be featured in the Macrossan Street Parade, prize-givings, awards, events and launches.”

In addition to Miss Carnivale, there will also be an opportunity for the runner up to take on the role of Miss Charity Carnivale 2013, who will be a support festival ambassador.

“We are looking for girl’s with a strong community spirit, who are passionate about Port Douglas Carnivale and are willing to freely give their time in the lead up to and during the event,” she said.   

The winner of Miss Carnivale will also receive automatic entry into either the Miss Teen Australia or another international scale modelling competition depending on their age, catwalk and deportment lessons, and a 12-month modelling contract with Platinum Model Management.

Port Douglas Carnivale manager Ken Dobbs said the festival was delighted to be working closely with Platinum Model Management Australia for the second year.

“Miss Carnivale will be a strong role model and a person who embodies all that is wonderful about our region and the community festival of Carnivale,” he said.

Miss Carnivale 2013 will be crowned at the official launch of Port Douglas Carnivale at the Combined Club on Friday, April 19 2013. The launch will unveil the Carnivale program for 2013. Entrants must be female and aged between 16 and 25 years of age.
