Confidence in QLD building sector

Confidence is building in Queensland’s property and construction industry, with ABS Building Approvals data showing a 0.5 per cent increase in trend dwelling approvals in April 2013.

“Importantly, this marks 15 consecutive months of growth in dwelling approvals using the trend measure,” said Treasurer and Minister for Trade Tim Nicholls.

“Trend approvals are now 11.6 per cent higher over the year to April, well above the national average of 6.3 per cent.”

“On the more volatile seasonally adjusted basis, Queensland is also showing a 13.5 per cent increase in dwelling approvals in the 12 months to April 2013.”

Mr Nicholls said these results were proof the Newman Government’s initiatives aimed at growing the property and construction sector were having an impact.

He said since the LNP Government reintroduced the Principal Place of Residence Concession, 33,000 families have saved up to $7,175 when purchasing their home.
