Scaffolding and a giant 60 metre crane has been looming large over Port Douglas resort, Coconut Grove, on Macrossan Street this week.

The crane has been brought in to assist in the challenging job of repainting an almost inaccessible section of the resort weathered by six years of tropical sun, rain, and wind.

The work is being undertaken just days after Coconut Grove claimed seventh place in Trip Advisor's Traveller's Choice Top 25 Hotels in Australia for 2013.
