AAA Tourism star rating assessments are currently taking place in the region's vast array of accommodation properties.
The Newsport believes the assessments are being undertaken as part of the "provisional ratings" which were given to some accommodation providers around 12 months ago, and required owners to make upgrades to their facilities or risk a downgrade in their star rating.
The new assessing model, which has a greater emphasis on quality and condition rather than the number of facilities on offer, caused angst for many operators of older properties, some of whom faced major renovations to maintain their rating.
The Newsport has not yet received a response from AAA Tourism.
