Hornsby carves up course

Mossman Golf Club players and visitors are enjoying green fairways with recent showers, and Peter Hornsby took advantage of the good conditions.

Last Tuesday’s Monthly Medal, sponsored by LJ Hooker, was taken out by Peter with a nett 69, runner-up Geoff Parmenter with nett 70 ahead of Elijah Boon with nett 72 on a count-back to four other players.

Nearest the pins were Steve Warden on 6, Wayne Soxsmith on 8, Geoff Parmenter on 10 and 13, and Brett Jurie on 17.

The winner of the 9 holes Sporters on Wednesday was Greg Walker victorious with 25 points ahead of John Cameron with 21 points. Nearest the pins were Peter Titus-Rees on 13 and Helen Gabour on 10.

Thursday’s Ladies Stableford winner was Glenda Christensen with 35 points on a count-back to Kerri-Lynn Williams. Nearest the pins were Lucy Giles on 8 and 10, Kerri-Lynn on 8 and Julie Hooker on 13.

The winner of the Friday Frolic was Ed Sant with 20 points for 9 holes.

Perfect weather conditions on Saturday ensured a good field.  The winner of Division I was John Petherbridge with 39 points ahead of Russell Jeffrey with 36 points on a count-back to Dennis Blake.

The Division II winner was Damien Pitcher with 37 points on a count-back to Laurie Prosser and third place was Geoff Goodwin. Nearest the pins were Russell Watkins on 6, Russell Jeffrey on 8, Kym Copeland on 10, Casey Dunne on 13 and Wayne Dowell on 17.

The Ladies Stableford event was won by Shona Barbour and nearest the pin was Christie Bouwkamp on 8.

It was another great day on Sunday with Damien Pitcher again taking the honours with a great score of 43 points ahead of Zac Hore with 37 points on a count-back to Jesse Hore.

Nearest the pins were Kym Copeland on 8 and Shona Barbour on 17.
