Farewell Father

by Deacon Ethel Woods

Following the markets under the raintrees in Mossman on Saturday, Church and community groups met to say farewell to Fr Paul and Mrs Christine Beasley.

Fr Paul has been Priest-In-Charge of the Anglican Parish of Mossman – Port Douglas for the past four years, and both he and Christine (pictured) have formed lasting friendships within the community.

Fr Paul has made the decision to retire and he and Christine will be moving back to their home in Cairns. They are looking forward to spending more time with their family in Brisbane and travelling around Australia.

One of the working groups Fr Paul was involved with was with the homeless in this community. Fr Paul was instrumental in in establishing a committee to investigate this problem and he will continue to be part of the team to investigate ways on how to assist people in this predicament.

During his relatively short time here, Fr Paul was associated with many other initiatives and committees and he will be greatly missed.

All present at the farewell luncheon wished Fr Paul and Christine and long and happy retirement.
