Twins have Ellen in their sights

Two young Aussie musicians have written a patriotic song in a bid to appear on the Ellen DeGeneres Show as the talk show host's impending Australian visit edges closer.

Vanessa and Arna Rogers, who hail from Byron Bay in New South Wales, contacted The Newsport after reading our article 'Ellen DeGeneres Show coming to Australia' (Tuesday 15 January 2013), in an effort to make their dream come true.

"My 18 twin sister and I, known as 'No Frills Twins', have a dream to one day appear on the Ellen Show," Vanessa said. "Now that her show is coming to Australia, we are more determined than ever to pursue it."

Vanessa said her and her sister share a deep admiration for the American star.

"Firstly, we adore Ellen's personality, her joyfulness and high-energy shines through the television and makes us smile.

"Secondly, we watch the Ellen Show every afternoon with a glass of Milo and toast, before sadly having to yield to the call of school homework once the show has finished.

"Thirdly, we find her generosity admirable and inspirational - not only in terms of donating money to charities, families and people in need, but also for the generosity of inviting unknown people from various walks of life to the spotlight.

"We think Ellen is a wonderful being who we'd be over the moon to meet in real life, plus the exposure would be greatly beneficial for the music career we aspire to have."

Their efforts have secured the backing of another set of twins, the Madden brothers of 'Good Charlotte' fame.

"We were recently approached on behalf of the Madden brothers...to write and record a song about how great living in Australia is," Vanessa said. "The song is called 'Good times Australia."

"When we were offered the opportunity to record professionally and meet the Madden brothers from we were so thrilled!

"We wrote the song ourselves and to hear the Madden's and everyone in the studio subconsciously hum the melody all day felt so cool and, like, such a privilege.

"We know how much Ellen loves Australia and we would love to share our song with her and the rest of our fellow Australian citizens," she said.

The sisters featured on the music talent show 'X Factor' in 2012, and have aspirations to record a full length album.
