QT built for speed

If the thought of yet another tedious evening testing the water with yet another prospective partner is too much to bear, perhaps it's time to change your approach.

This Valentine's Day at QT Resort Port Douglas' Estilo bar is the perfect opportunity to do just that.

For the first time in Port Douglas, speed-dating will take centre stage in what is sure to be a blast to be involved in, and just as fun to watch for those not on the market.

Host for the evening, Natalie Johnston, gave some advice for those people who may struggle to come up with a question to break the ice during the three-minute dates.

"The quirkier the better. There's nothing worse than someone coming up to you at a bar and saying 'the stars have fallen out of the sky and into your eyes', that's ridiculous.

"But probably not something like 'I've got rabies', something out of the box," she said.

For those in need of more help, the guys at QT have prepared some ice-breaker questions just in case, and a complimentary drink to those who register.

And if things aren't going to plan? Well, just like ripping off a Band-Aid it'll be over in no time. But if you strike love at first sight, grab some details and catch up later for after-speed-dating drinks at Estilo.

"For those who really get along extremely well, and the feeling is mutual, there are rooms available at a locals' rate," Natalie said.
