Pythons crowned Minor Premiers

After the Christmas break the Port Auto Car Wash Pythons had won their first two Futsal games comfortably, then with a game in hand, they faced their biggest rivals ISAIO on Tuesday night.

After a 3-2 win against ISAIO the Port Auto Car Wash Pythons were crowned the Cairns Futsal Minor Premiers.

The Pythons came out attacking at the start of the first half with Charlie Dowling, Jack Jenkins and Jake Read controlling the midfield, passing the ball around nicely, moving into space, and putting pressure on the ISAIO defence.

Within five minutes Jack Carr, playing the lone striker, volleyed hard into the net to put the Pythons 1-0 up.

ISIAO came back strongly and even the tough-tackling defence of Connor White and Bailey Morrison couldn't stop ISAIO squeezing in an equalizer by half time.

The second half started the same as the first with the Pythons attacking until another hard volley by Jack Carr put the Pythons 2-1 up.

ISAIO wouldn't lie down and forced home another equalizer. With time running out Jack Jenkins latched on to a through ball, dribbled it into the goal area and side-footed the ball home to give the Pythons a well-deserved Minor Premiership title in their first season.

Next week is the last group game, then it's the semi-finals, then hopefully the Grand Final to be held on March 5.

Go Pythons!
