Police raid Port Douglas homes

Mossman CIB and the Customs dog unit converged on two Port Douglas homes yesterday afternoon as part of a cross-border investigation.

On Monday night a Port Douglas resident was arrested in the south-western New South Wales town of Griffith in possession of what Mossman CIB Detective Sergeant, Trevor Perham, described as "a large amount of cash, firearms, and drugs."

Yesterday's searches, one of which was a house just metres from the Port Douglas State School on the corner of Endeavour Street and St. Crispins Avenue, uncovered drug utensils, computer equipment, and ammunition.

Detective Sergeant Perham told The Newsport police are hoping to speak with a female Port Douglas resident who may be able to help in their investigation.

No charges have been laid in relation to the Port Douglas raids at this stage.
