Local artists in TV series

Late last year, three Port Douglas artists decided to engage a television crew to promote their artwork, as well as the beautiful region in which they live.

Tania Heben, Anna Curtis, and Mary Ann Runciman have now taken part in an even more ambitious plan by Australian entrepreneur, Graeme Stevenson, to promote Australian art and artists to the world.

Graeme's 'Put Some Colour in Your Life' television series aims to do just that.

The series, which will feature Tania, Mary Ann, and Anna, will air in Australia on Channel 74 (4ME) every Sunday evening at 7pm EDST (6pm in Queensland) beginning on 3 March.

"This program is also shown in New Zealand and will soon be in UK, followed, we hope, by China and U.S.," said Jill Booth of art-in-tropical-australia.com.

"By promoting artists in a down-to-earth, accessible way, the project was designed to educate the public and potential art students about various methods used...as well as assisting their (the artists) businesses.

"But it was more than that as the artists, and those helping them, had a genuine interest in promoting the Port Douglas region to potential visitors. Through this initiative artists are leading the way in revitalising Port Douglas, a stated aim of local business leaders," she said.

More information on the series can be found at art-in-tropical-australia.com.
