Early risers join the club

The Great Barrier Reef Marathon Festival Social Run Club kicked off with a bang in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

A dozen runners rocked up 5.30am at Jalun Park and chose one of the two courses on offer to get the blood pumping.

With a total of four distances to choose from there was a course to suit all fitness levels.

I also put on a free run workshop which will go on at the same time each week to teach those interested how to run 'forefoot technique'.

A fruit platter was awaiting runners as they finished and recorded their times.

For the month of February, the run club will meet 5.30am on Wednesdays at Jalun Park, before changing the course to a different Port Douglas location.

The runs are free but we do ask for a gold coin donation, of which 100% is sent directly to local children's charity Kids In Need of Donations (K.I.N.D).
