Crashes keep police busy

Police have had their hands full over the past couple of days with a number of traffic accidents, including one involving a Cairns traffic police car.

A 19 year-old Port Douglas female driver collided with the traffic police car in Davidson Street at 1.30pm on Monday.

Police are calling for witnesses to the minor accident to ensure all aspects of the crash are investigated thoroughly.

Meanwhile, two more accidents occurred this morning, one on the corner of Mowbray and Davidson Streets, and the other at the roundabout near the Four Mile shopping strip (pictured).

The latter involved a 32 year-old Mossman woman who appears to have lost control of her vehicle which mountain a traffic island and hit a pole.

The woman, who was experiencing some chest pain, was transferred to the Mossman Hospital and is believed to be in a satisfactory condition.

Police are urging drivers to take care on the roads, particularly in wet conditions.

In other police news, two drivers were charged after breath tests revealed readings of 0.052 and 0.09 on the weekend.
