Course packed for monthly medal

A huge field of players took to Mossman Golf Club to compete in the Monthly Medal. Here's a recap of all the action from the club.
Tuesday’s Stableford event was won by Rob Cooke with 40 points ahead of Brett Jurie with 39 points on a count-back to Cameron Walton. Nearest the pins were Simon Nelson on 8, Art Howard on 10 and Geoff Parmenter on 17.
The Ladies dominated the 9 holes Sporters on Wednesday with winner Shona Barbour with 18 points on a count-back to Julie Hooker and Helen Gabour. Nearest the pins were Shona on 8 and Cathy Campbell on 17.
Thursday’s Ladies Stableford winner was Glenda Christensen with 33 points ahead of Julie Hooker with 30 points on a count-back to Shona Barbour. Nearest the pins were Treveen Page on 6, Ellen Clark on 8 and Julie on 17.
The winner of the Friday Frolic was Mick Lancaster with 21 points for 9 holes.
A great field of 62 men competed in the Monthly Medal sponsored by Ian Steley. The winner was Damien Pitcher with nett 69 ahead of Daniel Coulthard with 70.
Gross winners – A Grade Elijah Boon 77, B Grade Ian Steley 86 and C Grade Graham Cook 91.
Nett winners – A Grade Dennis Blake, B Grade Brendon Wood, C Grade Gert de Wilde.
Nearest the pins – Graham Cook on 6, Elijah on 8, Dennis on 10, Mick Lancaster on 13 and Brendon on 17.
In the Ladies Monthly Medal, Carly Jack enjoyed a win with nett 71 ahead of Shona Barbour nett 73 and in third place Christie Bouwkamp nett 74. Nearest the pins were Shona on 6, Christie on 8 and Glenda Christensen on 17.
It was another great day on Sunday with the course enjoying a cooling ocean breeze and the winner was John Cameron with 40 points ahead of Gert de Wilde with 32 points on a count-back to Kim Copland and Christie Bouwkamp. Nearest the pin was John Cameron on 6.
Our thanks go out to the volunteers who helped clear debris from the course after some intense wind, and those who helped with the tees.
