Clear skies keep golfers keen

Tuesday’s Mens Stableford event was won by Rick Herschell with 38 points ahead of John Caswell with 37 and Bruce Cheesman with 36 points on a count-back to Steve Warden and Kim Copland.
Nearest the pins were Mal Phillips on 6, Rick on 8, Peter Chrisfield on 10, Art Howard on 13 and Wayne Dowell on 17.
The 9 hole Sporters on Wednesday was won by Lucy Giles with 21 points ahead of Barry Costain with 20 points. Nearest the pins were Shona Barbour on 6 and Smokey Dawson on 8.
Thursday’s Ladies Valentine’s Day Stableford was won by Bette Wells with 34 points ahead of Bev Cowe the 32 points and in third place Narelle Johnson with 31 points on a count-back to Julie Hooker.
Peter Chrisfield of the Mossman Golf Store donated a special Valentine’s Day gift pack to each of the Nearest the Pin winners – Treveen Page on 6, Glenda Christensen on 8, Narelle on 10, Christie Bouwkamp on 13 and Ellen Clark on 17.
Saturday’s weather was superb with 55 men competing in the Stableford event.
Division I winner was Peter Chrisfield with 40 points on a count-back to Art Howard.
Division II winner was Dan Hober with 39 points on a count-back to Keith Jenkins.
Nearest the pins – Steve Gray on 6, Wayne Revell on 8, John Norris on 10, Zad Hore on 13 and Charlie Kadic on 17.
In the Ladies event, Katie Brims was victorious with 36 points ahead of Christie Bouwkamp with 34 points and in third place Kim Edwards on a count-back to Pris Freeman. Nearest the pins were Bev Cowe on 8 and Shona Barbour on 13.
Sunday was another great day with excellent scoring from Art Howard with 42 points being 8 points ahead of runner-up Kim Copland. Nearest the pins were John Petherbridge on 6 and 8, John Cameron on 10 and Kim on 17.
