Charges laid over jewellery theft

A 41 year-old Wonga man has been charged over the break in and theft of nearly $4000 worth of jewellery and watches from a Macrossan Street shop last Friday morning.

The break in at Evert Fine Jewellery occurred at 3.15am on Friday morning, and a combination of witness information provided to police and compelling forensic and CCTV evidence prompted police to search the man's home.

The man was not at home at the time but was contacted by police. He later turned himself in at Mossman Police Station.

He has been released on bail and will front Mossman Magistrates Court on 6 March on break and enter and steal charges.
