Attwood unstoppable
Saturday saw three shooters turnout for another steamy afternoon’s double 300 metre range in preparation for the Annual Mareeba prize shoot the next day.
Norbert Schmidt was first on the mound competing in the F Class 308, scoped division. Norbert loosed two sighters which he cut and then went on to shoot a fairly consistent round of 5s and 6s to end with a score of 57 out of a possible 60 in the ten shot match.
Neil Attwood was up next shooting in the Full Bore 308 open sight division. Neil opened with a 4 and a V Bull, he cut the 4 and then shot another V bull and a handful of 4s and 5s to give him a first round score of 43/2 out of a possible 50.
Ron Schild was next down in the Full Bore comp. Ron opened with a V Bull and a 4. He cut the 4 and squeezed off a stack of 4s and 5s with one more V Bull for a first round score of 44/2 from a possible 50 in the 10 shot match.
Norbert Schmidt was back again for his second 300 metre 11 shot range. Norbert opened with a 5 and a 6, he cut the 5 and went on to shoot a pretty good score with a few 5s and a lot of 6s and a few Super Bulls Eyes to give him a score of 63/2 out of a possible 66.
Neil Attwood was back for his second range. Neil opened with a 4 and a V Bull, he cut the 4 and went on to shoot a mixed bag of 4s, 5s and V Bulls to give him a score of 51/4 from 55.
Ron Schild was back for his second range in the Full Bore comp. Ron opened with 4s and went on to shoot a below average 11 shots for a final score of 41 out of a possible 55. Ron was having trouble with the extremely humid conditions on the range.
Overall a good day was had by all including the target person raising and lowering and marking the targets. Norbert Schmidt posted a double range score of 120/2 in the F Class comp. Neil Attwood took the honours in the Full Bore comp with 94/6 followed by Ron Schild on 85/2.
On Sunday our Club president and our treasurer headed to take part in the Annual Mareeba Prize Shoot. Both Neil Attwood and Ron Schild competed in the 300, 500 and the 600 yard ranges.
Neil took out first place in the 600 yard range with a score of 49/6 from a possible 50 and Neil also came fourth in the overall aggregate of the three ranges.
Well done Neil. Ron Schild didn’t get a look in.
