Hundreds of Cairns residents voiced concerns about the proposed Aquis mega resort development last Thursday.

Attendees discussed the pros and cons, including job construction versus possible future unemployment, environmental risks including storm surges and river flooding, economic sustainability, Cairns as a gambling destination, and added value to the region as a tourist destination.

In a Opens external link in new windowNewsport poll yesterday, 63 per cent (54) of the 84 respondents supported the Aquis development, with less than a third (28 per cent) voting 'No'.
