U8 Crocs end season in style

The mighty Under 8 Port Douglas Crocs finished the season off in fine style, producing one of their best four quarter efforts for the year against the Pyramid Power at Watson’s oval on Sunday.

After running through the banner at 100 miles an hour, the boys were pumped up from the first bounce. Out of the middle and recovering from a corked thigh after his team mates landed on him while running through the banner, young gun Kalan “Slone” Poole again demonstrated skills in the air and at ground level, while the competition’s 'Super-Boot' Ethan “The Dominator” Scott kicked a game-high three goals and zipped in and under all day. Scott was well supported by Jeston “Goodes” Parry, and ruck work again from Gus “Cox” Gaske all over the ground was “special”.

Not once, but twice did Hayden “Matera” Caswell blind turn the opposition which received loud applause from the boundary line crowd, and linked beautifully with running players in Jai “Harvey” Stapleton and Oscar “Wanganeen” Cooper, and the big body of big Taj “Ottens” Anderson had the Pyramid on-ballers in a fizz.

Missing a toe did not stop Jonte “Modra” Revell, who was outstanding, kicking them from everywhere. As the game started to open up, young Luke “Parkin” Pullen worked into the game nicely, as did his partner-in-crime Dargen “Tingay” Warren, and the improved Jessiah “Mansfield” St Pierre. The close checking tactics of little Tai “The Blanket” Unland impressed the coaching staf, while the rebounding offence from Tyler “Malaoxs” Anderson would have caught the umpies eyes for much needed Brownlow votes.

Overall, it was an outstanding game to end a fantastic season, with Coach Matt Scott awarding all players coach’s awards in their final game for 2013.
