Latest and greatest for Down Under Tours

No expense was spared when Down Under Tours added to its fleet last week, taking delivery of a million dollar investment in two new eco-accredited, Australian-built coaches boasting the latest technology.

In a show of confidence in the region's tourism industry, Down Under Tours' fleet now comprises 36 luxury vehicles. The new additions are a 53 seat, Brisbane built, Denning Phoenix and a 28 seat, custom-made, Cape Tribulation touring coach by Perth manufacturer, Able Bus and Coach.

Managing Director Gordon Dixon said the company “made a conscious decision to have Australian-built coaches, which assures the vehicles suitability in terms of quality, reliability and longevity for Australia’s harsh operating conditions. This far outweighs the additional cost in purchase price when compared to the average imported coach. It’s the total cost of ownership that you have consider, not just the purchase price."

Both vehicles are as environmentally-friendly as possible; Euro5 certification (ADR 80/03) means they achieve the most efficient level when measuring
vehicle exhaust emissions. The on-board management system The management system measures excessive idling to reduce fuel usage, making the coaches extremely fuel efficient and the most eco-sustainable or ‘green’ vehicles available on the market – qualities that endorse Down Under Tours’ Advanced Eco Accreditation.

Plus, passengers will be able to enjoy the latest technology and creature comforts, including leather reclining seats, the latest quality audio and visual system, and forward facing and monitoring cameras. As with all vehicles in Down Under Tours’ fleet, the new coaches have been fitted with the latest on-board driver/vehicle management system. And, in addition to GPS real-time vehicle tracking and monitoring, the system focuses heavily on safety - something Down Under Tours places the utmost priority on. “We pride ourselves on providing safe and reliable vehicles knowing we are transporting the most precious cargo; our passengers and our driver,” said Down Under Tours’ Fleet Manager, David Cuzzubbo.
