What's happening on ANZAC Day 2013

ANZAC Day, this coming Thursday 25th April 2013, starts at 5.30am at the Cenotaph at the Douglas Shire Council offices opposite Woolworths in Mossman for the Dawn Service to commemorate all those who have fallen in battle over the years during many of the world's conflicts.

In Port Douglas everyone will be assembling outside The Port Village Shopping Centre from 10.15am for the 10.30am march down to ANZAC Park to gather at the Soldiers Memorial for a commemorative service where wreaths will be laid at the Memorial by various dignatories and representatives of groups from around the local community.

Once these commemorative services and salutes to our fallen heroes have been concluded, several of the local hotels and resorts have organised parties, BBQs and celebrations where the local residents and visiting tourists can join in some fun for the rest of the public holiday.

QT Resort have organised a BBQ where brilliant local performer Dave Cooke will be entertaining guests from 1pm to 4pm (see advert opposite for details).

The Central Hotel will be holding their traditional annual 'Two Up' competition in the garden bar at the rear under the award winning shade sails from 11am.  There will also be a sausage sizzle  throughout the afternoon with all funds going to the RSL Mossman to ensure their great work continues each year.
