Students taking big steps
Students at the Port Douglas State School will go into upcoming NAPLAN testing full of confidence with recent results showing big improvements in key areas of the curriculum.
Announcing the results at yesterday's Parade, new Principal Ben Gaske praised students on their hard work saying Year 3, 5, and 7 students on up 23 of the most difficult NAPLAN areas including grammar and punctuation. NAPLAN testing will commence in three weeks.
In other school news, a select group of students were presented with Student of the Week awards, while $350 was raised at a car wash run by students on the weekend to raise money for t-shirts for their upcoming camp.
Finally, a number of the school's budding athletes were also recognised ahead of Thursday's Fun Run.
