Have a dog of a day (in a good way)!

If you wake up feeling a bit furry on a Saturday morning, come into town on Saturday morning and you'll find yourself in good company.

Paws & Claws are holding two events that are sure to attract big crowds, and at the same time, raise money which will bring them one step closer to their ultimate goal - a brand spanking new animal shelter in Craiglie.

For those who want to blow out some cobwebs, the 'Paws On The Run' fun run (yes, you can walk if you like) will commence at 8am at Surf Club. There is a 7km and a 2km course and you can even let your pet drag you around if you choose.

The courses will take in the stunning surrounds of Port Douglas before finishing up in ANZAC Park where you'll be welcomed with the second event of the day.

'Bark In The Park' is sure to entertain. Dog agility demonstrations, pet and owner look-alike contests, Cane Toad Races, and pet talent quest 'So You Think You Can Bark' are just a sample of what's waiting for you.

Bark In The Park starts at 8.30am and goes through until 1pm. Heaps of local businesses are supporting both events with donations to Paws & Claws and lots of raffle prizes.

Event co-ordinator Liz Need said she expected a strong turnout for both events.

“What better way to spend this Saturday morning, enjoying a morning out in Port Douglas with your pooch, supporting Paws and Claws. Stacey June, morning presenter of Hot FM’s breakfast show, will be at the event to MC the pet talent contest and local Port Douglas personality K-Star will also be there to help cheer everyone over the finish line.”

So bring you puss or pooch and get involved for a fantastic claws (sorry, we couldn't help ourselves).
